Young Composers Festival Goethe Instituit, Boston, MA Kendrick moderated the panel discussion with the featured young composers on the program, a collaboration between the Community Music Center of Boston, Dinosaur Annex and the New Gallery Concert Series. Composers on this years' program included Ryan Brown, Jean Foo, Christopher Stark, Matti Kovlar, Florie Namir and the commissioned composer, Andreia Pinto-Correia. January 30, 2010 Longy Alumni Voices Concert Series Pickman Hall, Cambridge, MA Kendrick presented her chamber work "Disir" at the brand new Longy Alumni Concert Series. Performers included Longy alumns Rachel Arnold, cello, Noell Dorsey, soprano as well as James Delorey, percussion and E. Reed Ferenbaugh, folk harp. Other performers on the program included Sara Bielanski, mezzo-soprano, and William Merrill, piano performing "Cabaret Songs" by William Bolcom, the early music ensemble Seven Times Salt, trombonist Mark Broschinsky and pianist Aaron Butler. January 27, 2010 "To a Man" Screening" Martini Red, Staten Island, NY January 9, 2010 "To a Man" Screening Cargo Cafe, Staten Island, NY "To a Man" is an exploration into the male experience of suburban Staten Island. Centered around the conservative South Shore Staten Island community, seven young adult men discuss their lives on Staten Island and issues such as race, gender, religion, stereotypes and the american dream. These men convey the complexities of the contemporary middle-class American white male. The film is directed by Mikhael Antone. Original soundtrack by Joe D'Angelo and Eva Kendrick. 2009 Performances December 22, 2009 "To a Man" Premiere Screening College of Staten Island, NY The world premiere of the feature-length documentary "To a Man," directed by Mikhael Antone, recipient of a COHASI Grant for the filming. December 18, 2009 White Electric, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed in a retro holiday concert which featured performances by special guests Jacob Haller & Chris Monti (of the Killdevils), and Sweet76, a retro duo featuring Serena Andrews, vocalist. December 12, 2009 The Mediator Stage, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed with the band Kinship. Nov. 28, 2009 Jacob Haller CD Release Party, Pioneer Brewing Company, Fiskeville, MA Anne's Cordial, Kate Katzburg and the Superchief Trio were three of the acts who performed with Jacob Haller at his CD release event for his latest release, Mistaken Identity. Nov. 1, 2009 AS220: Empire Review, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed at the annual Halloween-themed show, hosted by the Superchief Trio. Oct. 11, 2009 Songwriters in the Round, AS220, Providence, RI Kendrick was one of the featured songwriters at this event, sponsored by the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. Oct. 11, 2009 Redwood Library, Newport, RI Anne's Cordial performed the season opening concert at the oldest library in the country. Sept. 26, 2009 Stone Church Coffee House, Bristol, RI Anne's Cordial, Hannah Devine and Bill Monroe shared the bill at this monthly coffeehouse concert series. Sept. 20, 2009 Singing Out Against Hunger Festival, Tiverton, RI Anne's Cordial returned to this annual concert series/fundraiser. June 21, 2009 The Liberty Elm, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed at the All-American Breakfast acoustic music series. May 30, 2009 Anne's Cordial with the Frankenstein Consort White Electric, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed with Erik Lindgren and the Frankenstein consort. May 15, 2009 John Kleshinski Faculty Concert Series Community Music Center of Boston, MA CMCB faculty members Eva Kendrick, soprano, and Erik Puslys, guitar, presented a concert of classical guitar and vocal music. Pieces on the program include works by Spanish composer Fernando Sor, Brazillian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, arrangements of French 18th century arias by Phyllis Tate, and folk-inspired middle eastern and eastern european works. This concert was paired with a wine tasting. May 10, 2009 Music Sunday Service First Parish Medfield, MA Kendrick organized and directed the annual Music Sunday service at FPUU, featuring performances by the FPUU choir, chimes choir and members of the congregation. May 9, 2009 Vanderbilt Variety Hour Newport, RI Anne's Cordial performed two sets at this weekly variety show, hosted by Rory Raven. April 26, 2009 Anthology: Songs of Civil Protest and Unrest First Church Cohassett Cohassett, MA Anthology, a professional quartet of enchanting women's voices, commissioned eight composers to compose a work based around the theme of protest and social unrest. The resulting works span an incredible diversity of styles and texts. Also included on the program will be songs of protest from different eras and countries, including South African anti-apartheid hymns, union songs, work songs, and political songs from bygone decades. The composers are Ashi Day, Stephen Feigenbaum, Erin Huelskamp, Eva Kendrick, Ivana Lisak, Carol Lubkowski, Russell Podgorsek and Michael Veloso. March 29, 2009 SWAN Day Composers Festival Allen Hall, Boston, MA ![]() Second annual international festival featuring and showcasing female artists. The SWAN Day Composers Festival featured eight Boston-based female composers in a lecture-performance format. Pieces on the program were "Apelacion al solitario" and "Le Chambre Bleu" by Laura Macias; "Two Songs by Adrienne Rich" by Erin Huelskamp; "Disir" by Kendrick and Ferenbaugh; "Remember" by Ivana Lisak; "Full Moon Waltz" by Carol Lubowski; solo cello pieces by Liz Erickson; "Four Sketches for Piano" and "Babylon" by Liza White. Performers were Sarah Dunn, Edward Meradith, Dierdre Viau, Sachiko Murata, Emily Culler, Julia Scott Carey, Natalie Markward, Julie Carew, Sarah Long-Holland, Melissa Griego, Inja Davidovic, Elaine Rombola, Geoffrey Shamu, and Thomas Schmidt. There was also a sound installation by the multimedia artist Lovers v. Haters. March 18, 2009 The Blackstone Pawtucket, RI Anne's Cordial played a set at this singer-songwriter series hosted by Mark Cutler. March 15, 2009 Circle Worship Service First Church Boston Kendrick led the music portion of this monthly service, themed Work As a Spiritual Journey, which was led by Matt Mayer. February 21, 2009 Night of Staten Island Artist Awards College of Staten Island. NY As part of COHASI's Night of Staten Island Artists Awards Ceremony, Mikhael Antone's documentary "Works in Progress" will be screened, with soundtrack by Kendrick. Antone is also a recent recipient of a DCA Grant for 2009 to fund the rest of the project, which will become a feature-length film. February 20, 2009 Longy School of Music Composition Seminar Cambridge, MA Kendrick and composer Hector Martinez Morales, recent alumnae from the school, were guest speakers at the Longy School of Music Composition Seminar. January 29, 2009 Young Composers Festival New Gallery Concert Series: Our Sense of Home Allen Hall, Community Music Center of Boston, Boston, MA ![]() Kendrick premiered ...But Not Heard, a commissioned piece for prepared folk harp and cello at this New Gallery Concert Series concert. The NGCS, which presents new pieces music and art, is founded and directed by CMCB faculty member and pianist Sarah Bob. This program also featured the Chuck Gabriel Septet, composer Marcos Balter, and Roshanne Etezady's "Bright Angel" for clarinet and piano. Performers included Rachel Arnold, cello, Erin Reed Ferenbaugh, folk harp, Michelle Shoemaker, clarinet, and Barbara Lieurance, piano. January 25, 2009 Young Composers Festival Featured Concert Allen Hall, Community Music Center of Boston, Boston, MA ![]() Kendrick's "Against the Grain," commissioned by Boston's new music ensemble Dinosaur Annex, premiered at the Young Composers Festival Featured Concert. The piece was written for the CMCB Senior Wind Ensemble and string trio and was conducted by Todd Millen. The YCF is a weeklong festival of workshops, lectures and concerts, produced in partnership by the Community Music Center of Boston, Dinosaur Annex and the New Gallery Concert Series. Other pieces on the program included works by John Orfe, Daniel Bradshaw, Trevor Gureckis, Timothy Andres and Michele Zaccagnini. A pre-concert panel discussion was moderated by Kati Agocs and included Kendrick, Prof. Jeremy Van Buskirk, Danielle Galler-Rabinowitz, and Arthur Vanaria. December 14, 2008 Works in Progress College of Staten Island Staten Island, NY ![]() A documentary in progress, Works in Progress, by filmmaker Mikhael Antone with a musical score by Eva Kendrick, was screened at the College of Staten Island. The film, funded by a COHASI Grant, focuses on six young middle class men, most of whose parents are immigrants. November 21, 2008 ** White Electric Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed with Allysen Callery and the Land of Nod and Grow Your Own Butterflies. November 20, 2008 John Kleshinski Faculty Concert Series Community Music Center of Boston, Allen Hall Boston, MA Kendrick premiered "Disir," for harp, cello, and three singers based on the Norse Poetic Edda, and "Songs of Anxiety" for child soprano and xylophone. Also on the program was "Bee-Smoking" for soprano, cello and marimba. October 19, 2008 Rialto Arts, Where Nature Takes Center Stage Brooks Auditorium Lincoln, MA ![]() ![]() Rialto Arts presented Buccaneers of Buzz, Celebrating Honeybees, an event which features a documentary about beekeepers, live performance, dance, and original music, including a commissioned work by Kendrick. Performers included Yuko Yoshikawa, marimba, Miranda Loud, mezzo-soprano, Brian Jones, and tapdancer, Karl Haas, percussion. This program was funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and individual donors. The multimedia event included a hive demonstration, the concert, and a honey-tasting bee fair featuring local beekeepers. Kendrick's piece "A Child Said, What Is the Grass" was commissioned in honor for David Lapin and featured the CMCB orchestra, children's chorus, adult chorus and soprano soloist Jennifer Ashe. May 21, 2008 Recital: William O'Neill, Bass-Baritone San Francisco Conservatory Hall San Francisco, CA ![]() William O'Neill performed works from standard opera literature to art songs and contemporary music at his recital for his B.M. in Vocal Performance. O'Neill premiered Kendrick's song cycle Debit Dude set to text by Boston poet Paul Turner. Other composers include J.S. Bach, Schubert, Rossini and Saint-Seans. April 20, 2008 First Parish Medfield Annual Music Sunday Medfield, MA ![]() This annual music service featured the First Parish Choir, the talented musicians of the church community, including soprano Greta Hill and tenor John Kornet. Pieces include a choral setting of "For the Beauty of the Earth" and other arrangements by Boston composer and choral conductor Chris Eastburn. Kendrick's song cycle Shining set to poems by Kathleen Spivack was performed by Kendrick, soprano Noell Dorsey and pianist Steve Yenger, and Ms. Lee performed music by Landini and the premiere of a piece by herself. March 29, 2008 SWAN Day (Support Women Artists Now) RI Artists' Exchange Cranston, RI ![]() Songs from A Woman in the Garden were premiered by the new Boston-based a cappella quartet Anthology set to poems by Laurie Robertson-Lorant, who read from poems at the festival. SWAN Day RI is a local celebration of a new international holiday celebrating women artists in all mediums. On the first annual SWAN Day, 150 events were held throughout the world. March 23, 2008 ** WBUR In-Studio Performance 88.1 FM, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial was interviewed and performed live on the Brown University student radio program "Around the World," hosted by DJmadameb. They were interviewed about SWAN Day RI, a day-long festival that the band helped to organize and performed a few songs. Feb. 14, 2008 ** Twin River Casino Lincoln, RI Anne's Cordial performed with Spogga at a Valentine's Day concert. Feb. 10, 2008 ** Live/Whirled Series 2008 Perishable Theatre, Providence, RI Anne's Cordial performed a set with singer-songwriter Joe Auger as part of this series, hosted by Marilynn Mair, in which two groups each play a set then perform an improvisation with the audience. Cummings. Also on the program was Eva's piece Nine Years, Two Miles, for flute and piano, performed by Steve Yenger and Fernando Brandao. Dec. 2, 2007 Home Is Where the Heart Is: Domestic Music of the 16th and 18th Centuries First Parish, Medfield, MA Eva and Jacob T. Stott, harpsichordist, performed European domestic music in this fundraising concert for First Parish Medfield. The program included works by J.S. Bach, John Blow, Thomas Campion, Caccini and more. June 10, 2007 ** All-Asia Bar Cambridge, MA May 14, 2007 Music of Liz Knight Pickman Hall, Cambridge, MA Longy School of Music student composer Liz Knight presented her masters recital. The program included chamber works, solo trumpet and cellos pieces, and "In My Family's Words," an a cappella song cycle sung by Nils Erickson and Eva Kendrick. May 13, 2007 First Parish Medfield Music Service First Parish Medfield, Medfield, MA As the music director of First Parish Medfield, Kendrick directed this annual music service which included solo organ pieces, soloists Becca and John Kornet, and a cameo by Kendrick's folk trio Anne's Cordial. May 6, 2007 Voices of the Spirit: Voices of New England Kendrick's piece "Famous" was included on this program of Boston-area composers, who also included John Howell Morrison, Chris Eastburn, Chris Montgomery and Frank Peri. Kendrick was also the soprano soloist for the concert. May 6, 2007 First Parish Needham Concert First Parish Needham, Needham, MA Kendrick's piece "Famous," for mixed adult and children's choir and string quartet was premiered at this concert, along with works by John Howell Morrison, Chris Eastburn, and Chris Montgomery.
